The Difference Between Bratty and Playful

*Warning: I am in no way an expert. You live your life how you want to. This is more what I have learned.

I have noticed a lot of talk of bratty Littles. Mainly in the sense that they are cute, and they can be, depending on the type of brat they are. Some Littles/Subbmissives will go out of their way to make their Dominate unhappy. I once heard a story about a Dom who's Sub would disobey in the worse ways. One day, after play, the Dom asked for a glass of ice water, a simple request. The Sub came back with a cup of hot water with salt in it. That is by no means "cute", I think everyone can agree on that with me. I still don't know what went through her mind, and I can't possibly come up with a good scenario where that is the answer.

Most Doms/Dommes want a well behaved Sub. So, where is the line between playful and bratty? Well technically they are the same thing, it is just about how you present it. If you completely displease your Dom, like in the previously mentioned story, then you are a nightmarish Sub, perhaps you aren't a sub at all. However, some Subs need to be a little bratty. For the occasional swat on the behind or the "Dom-voice", so most of the time they will have a way to do it.

I know a Sub who gets their Doms attention by calling him the wrong name. Not during sex or anything, but for example, if his name is Nick, she'd call him Nicholas, which is not his name. (Name has been changed but it's the same concept). It's a simple way that doesn't cross the line and gets his attention.

Keep in mind that not all Subs like to be playful and not all Doms want a playful Sub. You need to talk to your other half and see what suits you best. For some relationships it is serious all the time. For some it is only in the bedroom. Everyone is different, and some may need to compromise.

I apologize for the lack if Caregiver/Little talk in this, but it goes for all kinds of BDSM relationships.
